What we are asked most, without the marketing.

01The coffee
Why is everything roasted light?
Because it is the only way to taste the lot rather than the roast. Every coffee is profiled on its own density, moisture and sugar content, in small batches, and dropped before the sugars flatten out. We do not roast to a house taste.
How long should the coffee rest before I brew it?
For filter, start at day seven; the best clarity usually falls between day fourteen and twenty-one. For espresso, wait at least fourteen days, with the peak between twenty-one and thirty days after roasting.
Is one bag good for both filter and espresso?
Yes. We roast one profile per lot and it works in both, given the right rest. The difference is in your hands: the ratio, grind and extraction time, not two different bags.
How should I store an open bag?
Closed, at room temperature, away from light and the hob. Keep it in the bag it came in and press the air out. Do not refrigerate; do not decant into a clear jar.
Do you grind the coffee?
Whole bean by default, because ground coffee loses its aromatics within days. If you do not own a grinder, tell us your brewing method in the note at checkout and we will grind it for you.
What does the date on the bag mean?
It is the roast date, not a best-before. Coffee does not spoil; it fades. We suggest drinking a bag within three months of that date, and within a month of opening it.
02Orders
When is my order roasted and sent?
We roast to order in small batches and dispatch on the next roast day. Orders placed before a roast day usually leave within two working days.
Can I change or cancel an order?
Yes, as long as it has not been roasted and packed. Write to info@flyingfrogcoffee.com with your order number and we will amend or cancel it.
Which payment methods do you accept?
iDEAL, credit and debit cards, and PayPal, through our checkout. Prices are in euro and include Dutch VAT.
A coffee is sold out — will it return?
Usually not. Lots are bought whole and released until the last bag. Leave your address on the product page and we will write when the next release lands.
03Beyond the bag
Do you supply cafés, offices and restaurants?
Yes. Wholesale runs on standing weekly roast slots, with training and dialling-in included. Start on the Business page and we will answer within one working day.
Can I visit the roastery?
By appointment, on Steigereiland. Students, journalists and coffee professionals are welcome; write to us and we will find a morning.
What is the packaging made of?
A recyclable mono-material bag with a one-way valve, so the coffee can release its gas without letting oxygen in. Shipping boxes are unbleached cardboard, taped with paper.
